Donating or consigning your treasures is easy. Our experienced consignment staff is here to make working with The Ark a positive and enjoyable experience. Here are “the basics” for donating or consigning at The Ark.
The Ark welcomes and appreciates donations. Items must be clean and in good repair. We cannot accept items that are broken, stained, or torn. Donating to The Ark may provide tax benefits to donors. Upon request, The Ark will provide a letter of thanks or a donation receipt. It is the responsibility of the donor to assign a fair market value to the donated items for tax purposes. Donors should consult their tax accountant for advice regarding donations.
Only the highest quality items will be accepted for consignment. Preferred items include: jewelry, furniture, fine china and crystal, sterling silver, lamps and lighting, fine art, and decorative accessories. Items must be clean and in good repair.
Items we DO NOT ACCEPT for consignment: clothing & furs, linens, beds & cribs, pianos, grandfather clocks, breakfronts, hutches, armoires, rocking chairs, large upholstered pieces, Eastlake & Victorian pieces, pine/oak and wicker furniture, dolls & dollhouse furnishings, unframed artwork, large sets of pottery and ordinary china, brass/copper/pewter kitchenware, ordinary silver-plate, souvenir spoons, collectible china plates & figurines (Franklin Mint, Hummel, Lladro, etc.), African art, books, and items made from endangered species (ivory, tortoise, zebra, etc). We will not accept items that are stained, ripped, damaged, needing repair or missing hardware.
Items MUST BE PRE-APPROVED before bringing to The Ark. Photos should be emailed to email@example.com. Please include information regarding dimensions, provenance, signatures, and damage or repair. After your items are reviewed, we will email the Pre-Approval determination. Even with pre-approval, The Ark reserves the right to refuse items based on quality, condition, or desirability.

Our Pricing Committee evaluates ALL items to determine the selling price. We do not provide appraisals or price items on demand. Consignors will be contacted for price approval before items are tagged and placed on display in the store. Items priced at less than $40 will be accepted as donations only. Items that fall below $40 after a markdown become donations.
Items are consigned for a 4 month period. We strongly discourage the withdrawal of items prior to termination of the contract. Items will be reduced 30% after 2 months and another 20% after 3 months.
Items remaining after the 4th month become property of The Ark and will be considered donations. It is the responsibility of the consignor to retrieve unsold items upon termination of the contract if the consignor does not wish to donate the items to The Ark. Please notify The Ark 48 hours in advance to pick up expired items.
The consignor will receive 50% of the selling price for all merchandise except Fine Jewelry. For Fine Jewelry items priced at The Ark for $1,000 and above, the consignor will receive 75% of the selling price. However, if Fine Jewelry prices fall below $1,000, the items revert to the 50% commission rate. Prices are firm, and owners will not be called with offers. Consignors will receive payment for sold items by the middle of the month following the sale.
